Locomotive is a fast and easy way to get Ruby on Rails up and running quickly on your Mac. It includes Rails, lighttpd, FastCGI and tons of gems. There’s even a “max bundle” that includes just about every Ruby oriented thing you can imagine. So, why am I still using WEBRick? Because, while Locomotive provides all these things, it does make configuring them quite a pain (just try to configure lighttpd). If you don’t need to do a lot of strange configuration, download Locomotive and give it a try.
