TalkCrunch recently interviewed Kevin Lynch about Adobe’s upcoming Apollo project. I’ve been keeping my eye on Apollo and it seems quite interesting. Adobe is calling Apollo “a cross-operating system runtime being developed by Adobe that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills (Flash, Flex, HTML, JavaScript, Ajax) to build and deploy Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) to the desktop.” Sounds cool, but also a little confusing. The TalkCrunch podcast helps shed some light on Apollo and is worth a listen.

Well, I finally ordered Studio 8. It’s available for download from Macromedia, but I decided to save a few bucks and order it from Amazon. While I’m generally trying to move myself away from pricey software to cheaper (or free) open source software â?¦ I do find Macromedia Studio quite indispensable on a daily basis. The upgrade in Flash alone is worth the price. It’s just too bad I couldn’t do a cross-platform upgrade and get Studio 8 for my Mac.

I was thinking about making the switch to Mac as my web development platform. One of the few commercial products that I rely heavily on is Macromedia (soon to be Adobe) Studio. According to woodster.com, it looks like making the switch will be too costly after all. Ahh!
