While Firefox will remain Ubuntu’s default web browser, the Ubuntu community has added the Chromium browser to Lucid Lynx’s repositories. Chromium is the open source version of Google’s Chrome web browser. In Lucid Lynx Alpha 3, the Chromium browser is super easy to install right form the Ubuntu Software Center. The current version of Chromium is from the 5.0 branch and seems to be very stable. Hopefully, this package will be kept up-to-date as Google seems to be upgrading Chrome at an amazing pace.
To install Chromium web browser, just search for “chromium” in the Ubuntu Software Center and click “Install” – it’s really that easy!
Are you using Chromium, Firefox or some other browser with Ubuntu? Leave your comments below!

Any idea if Ubuntu 9.10 contains Google Chrome in the software center?
I’m more of a Firefox person, but it will be quite interesting to see how Chrome takes shape in the world of Linux. It has already far surpassed Safari and Opera which have been around much longer (Opera being the big brother to most browsers out now, including Firefox).
Google chrome (witch is different from chromium) is downloadable from http://google.com/chrome Maybe it’s only the beta version, but it works good.
i use Chromium, Firefox, and Aurora
I’m was a major Firefox user. Recently gave Chrome on Windows a try and have been using Chrome on all my computers ever since. Chrome is much faster displaying web sites than Firefox and the mouse gestures extension I’m using, is finally as usable as Firefox’s fire gestures. I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and will be installing Chromium after it’s done updating.
