What could be better than iChat? Adium?

“Adium is a free instant messaging application for Mac OS X that can connect to AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, and more.” That’s what the Adium website claims. I ran into Adium when looking for an easy way to connect to my friend on Yahoo! Messenger. I downloaded it, tried it out, and haven’t used iChat since. Adium has a lot of great features and, in my opinion, actually integrates with OS X better than iChat. Tabbed chats are also a great feature.

man, I’m hooked on Adium. since you mentioned it, 2 of my friends switched.

Yes, but you can’t get the video/audo conferencing capabilities that iChat can. If you have a ton of friends who use IMs outside of Google/Jabber and AOL, though, then Adium and Proteus are both nice alternatives.
