BOSGAME E2

The BOSGAME E2 is a budget mini PC built on the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H, a 2019 quad-core (8-thread) chip with Radeon Vega 8 graphics. It handles office work, web browsing, video, and older games, and it ships with Windows 11 Pro. The box can sit on a desk or hang on the VESA mount that comes in the box, so it works as a second desktop or an always-on home server.

It comes with 16GB of DDR4 on two SO-DIMM slots (expandable to 32GB) and a 512GB NVMe SSD in an M.2 2280 slot. Connectivity is Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and Gigabit Ethernet. Two HDMI 2.0 ports and a USB-C port each carry video, so it can drive three displays. The rest of the ports are three USB 3.2, one USB 2.0, and a headset jack.

Ports, memory, and storage

The Ryzen 5 3550H is a 4-core, 8-thread chip (2.1 GHz base, up to 3.7 GHz) with Radeon Vega 8 graphics, paired here with dual-channel DDR4-2400 and a 512GB NVMe SSD. The front panel has two USB 3.2 ports, a USB-C port, a headset jack, and a red power button. The rear has a third USB 3.2 port, a USB 2.0 port, Gigabit Ethernet, two HDMI 2.0 outputs, and the DC input. BOSGAME rates both HDMI ports and the USB-C for 4K at 60Hz, which covers a three-monitor setup. There is no SD card reader. A VESA mount and screws come in the box.

Benchmarks and gaming in DevWithZachary’s test

DevWithZachary’s video sets the E2 against a maxed-out Raspberry Pi build. In Geekbench, the E2 scored about 1,087 single-core and about 3,100 multi-core. Its SSD wrote at about 2,200 MB/s and read at about 2,700 MB/s, about five times the speed of the Pi’s SSD. The Pi drew about 11 watts and the E2 topped out around 40, so he gives the Pi the win on performance per watt.

The Vega 8 graphics put the E2 well ahead of the Pi in games. Half-Life 2 ran above 80 fps at 1080p. Fortnite was a bad experience at 1080p on low settings and playable at 720p. Doom Eternal held a stable 30 fps at 720p on low settings. Cyberpunk 2077 did not reach 20 fps even with upscaling. His summary for older games: “if you want to play old titles we’re talking like pre 2010 you’re going to have a really good time.”

He called the case “very cheap plastic” and added that “there’s definitely some money saved there.” The back panel comes off with four screws and exposes the M.2 drive and the two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots. The E2 against a Raspberry Pi and faster mini PCs

For a low-cost desktop, the E2 runs Windows and ordinary PC software, has faster storage, and has far stronger graphics than a Raspberry Pi. The Pi uses much less power. Our list of mini PCs that replace the delayed Pi 6 covers more options in that space.

The 3550H is a 2019 part, so demanding work and current AAA games are out of reach, and the wireless stops at Wi-Fi 5. The BOSGAME E4 uses the same chip and adds a second Ethernet port.
