BMAX B8A Pro
Published on
The BMAX B8A Pro is a small desktop for office work, programming, and light gaming across up to three monitors. It runs an eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 chip from 2024 with Radeon 780M integrated graphics. BMAX sells one build, and both the memory and the storage can grow later. It has no USB4 or Thunderbolt port, so it cannot use an external GPU dock or the fastest external drives.

Ports, size, and networking
The B8A Pro measures about 5 x 4.4 x 2 inches and weighs about 0.9 pounds, according to BMAX’s spec sheet. The lid has a spun-metal finish with the BMAX logo, and the sides are triangular-mesh vent grilles. The front panel carries a full-function USB-C port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, a headset jack, the power button, and a clear-CMOS pinhole. The rear holds the 19V barrel input, DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A 2.0 ports, and the 2.5GbE port.
Three displays can run at once: one each on HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C. The DisplayPort output is rated for 8K at 60Hz, and the HDMI and USB-C outputs for 4K at 60Hz. Wireless is WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, so the 6GHz band that WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 use is not available. The single wired port runs at 2.5Gbps. The machine ships with Windows 11 Pro, and BMAX also lists Ubuntu support.
Processor, graphics, and cooling
The Ryzen 7 8745HS has eight Zen 4 cores and sixteen threads, runs at 3.8GHz base, and boosts to 4.9GHz. It scores about 29,000 in PassMark’s CPU test. The chip has no NPU, so apps that offload AI work to a neural accelerator fall back to the CPU or GPU.
The Radeon 780M is a 12-core RDNA 3 integrated GPU clocked up to 2.6GHz. In BMAX’s own write-up, the company gives a 3DMark Time Spy score of 2778 and frame rates of 160fps in League of Legends, 105fps in CS:GO, and 65fps in PUBG. BMAX says these are 1080p results from its internal lab tests. The three games are esports and older titles, and the company gives no figures for recent AAA releases. BMAX cools the chip with one fan and two copper heat pipes, which it calls a space capsule cooling system.
Memory and storage upgrades
Memory sits in two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, so the 16GB that ships can be replaced with larger modules. The slots take up to 256GB in total, which matches AMD’s limit for the chip. The installed memory runs at DDR5-4800, while the 8745HS supports DDR5-5600. The highest memory speed the board supports is not published.
The 512GB boot SSD sits in an M.2 2280 slot on a PCIe 4.0 x4 link. A second M.2 2280 position, which BMAX calls a storage bay, connects through a flexible ribbon cable and runs at PCIe 3.0 x4. PCIe 3.0 x4 peaks at about half the bandwidth of the PCIe 4.0 x4 boot slot, so the bay is better suited to a game library or media files than to the system drive.
Who it’s for
The B8A Pro fits office work, programming, and three-monitor desks, plus light 1080p gaming in esports and older titles, where BMAX’s own lab figures put League of Legends near 160fps. The Ryzen 7 8745HS scores about 29,000 in PassMark. The two SO-DIMM slots and the second M.2 bay let memory and storage grow later, and the 2.5GbE port and the VESA mount in the box suit a desk or a monitor back.
Skip it if you want an external GPU dock or fast external storage, since it has no USB4 or Thunderbolt port. The Beelink SER8 and the GEEKOM A8 both use the same Ryzen 7 8745HS and both have a USB4 port that can run either one. Skip it too if you need WiFi 6E or newer. The Mini PC Comparison Chart lists more options.
