GEEKOM AX8 Pro

The GEEKOM AX8 Pro is a 0.5-liter mini PC built on AMD’s Ryzen 9 8945HS (8 cores, 16 threads) with Radeon 780M graphics. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, 32GB of DDR5 (upgradeable to 64GB), and a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, in an aluminum case with a VESA mount in the box. GEEKOM also sells this box in a Ryzen 7 8845HS configuration (the variant below); the regular AX8 and AX8 Max are separate models.

It is aimed at productivity, content work, and 1080p gaming. The Radeon 780M handles 1080p but is no substitute for a discrete card, so modern AAA titles run at low-to-medium settings rather than maxed out. USB4, two HDMI ports, 2.5GbE, and Wi-Fi 6E cover the connectivity side. The compromises are a single M.2 slot, no front USB-C, and an SD reader on the board that the chassis does not expose.

The Ryzen 9 8945HS is an 8-core, 16-thread chip that boosts to 5.2 GHz. Across the three hands-on reviews it posted Cinebench R23 multi-core scores around 15,000 to 16,800 depending on the cooling profile (SMOOREZ 14,982, Britec09 16,544, Salem 16,810), enough for 4K video editing (Salem rendered a 2-minute-15-second 4K Premiere clip in about 2.5 minutes). The bundled PCIe Gen 4 SSD read near 5,000 MB/s in SMOOREZ’s test.

SMOOREZ measured Doom Eternal around 65 FPS and Cyberpunk 2077 around 30 FPS at 1080p medium on the integrated Radeon 780M, with GTA V near 50 FPS; the 780M also handles retro emulation well. Under sustained load all three reviewers saw the CPU peak at 92C without throttling, and the fan stays quiet at idle but becomes audible under load.

The build is an aluminum chassis measuring 4.61 x 4.37 x 1.52 inches, small enough to hang behind a monitor on the included VESA mount. Teardowns showed genuine-brand internals (Crucial DDR5, an Acer NVMe SSD) and easy RAM and SSD access. Expansion stops at one M.2 2280 slot, no USB-C port sits on the front, and the SD reader on the board has no chassis cutout to reach it.

Salem Techsperts called it “officially the most powerful mini PC” he had tested and praised the aluminum build as “drop-dead gorgeous.” He logged Cinebench R23 multi-core at 16,810, rendered a 4K Premiere clip in about 2.5 minutes, and saw Cyberpunk 2077 average 54 FPS in its benchmark. His teardown confirmed Crucial RAM and an Acer SSD, and his gripe was the missing second NVMe slot.

Britec09

Britec09 measured Cinebench R23 multi-core at 16,544 and a 3DMark Time Spy of 3,315, and confirmed the CPU peaks at 92C under stress without throttling. He noted the unit can “even play Triple-A listed games at reasonable frame rates” and drive up to four displays, but flagged the high price (around 949 pounds in the UK).

SMOOREZ ran the most detailed gaming and teardown pass, measuring Doom Eternal at about 65 FPS and Cyberpunk 2077 at about 30 FPS (1080p medium) and an SSD read near 5,000 MB/s. He called it “an awesome little powerhouse for the size,” but was direct about the design limits: no extra M.2 slot, no front USB-C, and the inaccessible SD reader. For buyers on a tighter budget he pointed to older Ryzen options like the GEEKOM A8.

Steve, a verified buyer who describes himself as a Dell-and-Intel IT professional, wrote that the AX8 Pro “absolutely & consistently crushed my Dell XPS in every test,” while another verified buyer, Versed, summed it up as “Computer is tiny and fast.” FEde, a verified buyer, praised the build and noted that the cooling is “not as noisy at full capacity as I expected, really ok,” though even FEde reported early trouble: “in the first weeks it had several issues with some updates and had to do a hard restore twice.”

Teardowns found Crucial RAM and an Acer SSD. The VESA mount and 4.61-inch-wide footprint suit tight desks.
