MeLE Quieter HD3 N150
Published on
The MeLE Quieter HD3 N150 is a silent, fanless desktop for office work, digital signage, and always-on home server jobs where a hard drive has to live inside the box. Its case is the tallest in the Quieter family, and MeLE uses that height for a 2.5-inch SATA bay next to the M.2 slot and for a socketed memory slot instead of soldered RAM. The Intel N150 has four efficiency cores that handle office and media work but not heavy creative jobs or gaming. MeLE launched it in August 2026 in three memory and storage builds, all on Windows 11 Pro.

Storage bays, memory slot, and ports
The case measures about 5.9 x 4.1 x 1.5 inches and weighs about a pound, and a VESA mount in the box lets it hang behind a monitor or under a desk. Inside, an M.2 2280 slot takes an NVMe SSD and a 2.5-inch bay takes a SATA hard drive or SSD; MeLE rates each for up to 4TB, and the microSD slot adds another card. MeLE lists the 8GB/128GB build with eMMC storage, and the 16GB/512GB build ships with an SSD. Memory sits in a single DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM slot that accepts up to 32GB, so an 8GB model can take a larger stick later. That one slot also means the N150 runs its memory in single channel.
The front holds two USB-A 10Gbps ports, a microSD slot, a headset jack, and two USB-A 2.0 ports. The side panel carries a third USB-A 10Gbps port, a second headset jack, two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, gigabit Ethernet on a Realtek RTL8111H, the USB-C power input, and a security lock slot. The two HDMI ports and the DisplayPort drive three 4K displays at once. The USB-C port only accepts the bundled 12V adapter, so it does not carry data or video. Wireless is Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. For remote and unattended setups, MeLE lists Wake on LAN, PXE boot, auto power on after an outage, and RTC wake.
Intel N150 in a passive case
The Intel N150 is a 2025 Twin Lake chip with four cores, four threads, a 3.6GHz boost clock, and integrated Intel graphics. Its PassMark CPU score of about 5,300 places it in the entry-level class, ahead of the Celeron N5105 (about 4,100) that powered the earlier Quieter HD3 and the MeLE Quieter3Q. That covers browsers, office apps, video calls, 4K video playback, signage players, and light server duties, but not gaming beyond simple titles, video editing, or running several virtual machines.
With no fan, heat has to leave through the ribbed sides and the textured top, so expect the case to run warm under sustained load. MeLE rates the HD3 to run at full speed 24/7 without throttling. Starry Hope’s guide to fanless vs. active cooling explains which workloads suit a passive design.
Where the Quieter HD3 fits
The Quieter HD3 suits jobs that need both silence and internal storage: a home media or file box with a hard drive inside, a signage player that runs all day, or a three-monitor office desk where fan noise is unwelcome. The socketed memory slot is the other reason to pick it over the MeLE Quieter 4C, whose N150 version uses the same chip in a much smaller case but solders its memory and has no 2.5-inch bay. The 4C does have a USB-C port with display output, which the HD3 lacks.
Buyers who want faster networking, USB-C or USB4 docks, or more processing headroom should look at actively cooled mini PCs instead. To compare options, use Starry Hope’s Mini PC Comparison Chart.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upgrade the RAM in the MeLE Quieter HD3 N150?
Yes. The memory is a socketed DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM, and the slot takes a stick of up to 32GB, so an 8GB unit can be upgraded. Because there is only one slot, memory runs in single channel.
Can I add a hard drive to the Quieter HD3?
Yes. It has a 2.5-inch SATA bay for a hard drive or SSD up to 4TB, plus an M.2 2280 NVMe slot rated for up to 4TB and a microSD card slot.
How many monitors does the Quieter HD3 support?
Three 4K displays at once: two through the HDMI 2.0 ports and one through DisplayPort 1.4. The USB-C port is for power only and does not output video.
How is the N150 model different from the older Quieter HD3?
The older Quieter HD3 uses an Intel Celeron N5105. The N150 model swaps the VGA port for DisplayPort 1.4, moves power to a USB-C input, and drops the USB-C data port. The N150 also has a higher boost clock and a larger cache.
Does the Quieter HD3 have a fan?
No. It is fully passive, and heat leaves through the metal case. Expect the case to get warm during long, heavy workloads.
